And so they put all their eggs in wind and solar, which require a lot of carbon emissions to manufacture and the batteries are quite polluting when decommissioned.

I can't help but think they know this and WANT it that way. In fact, I suspect they know this won't produce enough power and that is their goal; to scale back our life styles and eventually reduce the world's population through slow strangulation of industry.

1 The real joke phrase was in the third paragraph: "burgeoning success of renewables." Since I saw that this was from The Guardian, I'd put my coffee mug back onto my desk. Good thing! Burgeoning success my a$$!
