Our ability, as humans, to make rational decisions about our lives is determined by what and how we think, as well as our individual and group perceptions of the world around us and those perceptions are almost totally dependent upon the available information we receive, whether we accept or reject it, there is an influence upon our thinking processes and as an eventual result an influence upon the society in which we live.
Tim adds:
There was a guy named Alexander Selkirk who was marooned on one of the Juan Fernandez islands in the south Pacific (off the coast of Chile'). He was the basis for Robinson Crusoe. At any rate he spent 4 years alone. He actually had forgotten how to speak English by the time he was rescued! We MUST get feedback for our minds to work.
If that feedback is distorted our thinking will be distorted. That's where the whole world is now, with a radicalized news media telling us lies. Most believe it because they do not trust their own judgments enough and can't spot the gaps in the narrative.
