Shades of Rasputin

Shades of Rasputin
Rasputin, who was probably demonically possessed, was shot, stabbed, hit in the head, and kept coming back, lie some monster in a bad horror film. Looks like this woman did likewise.
From the article:
She was taken to a nearby hospital, where her lawyers said she was "being provided life-saving measures.”
Her condition was unclear as of Thursday morning; however, a doctor who was retained by Pike’s legal team as a medical expert said she likely now has a brain injury as a result.
"It’s very possible that as a consequence of the delay of the beginning of resuscitation she will have a brain injury,” Dr Joel Zivot, a professor at the Emory University School of Medicine, told the BBC.
Witnesses on site at the Nashville prison to watch the historic execution take place recalled Pike speaking in full sentences as she was set to be injected with deadly drugs, The Tennessean reported.
"My arm feels like it’s about to bust. One spot is really throbbing,” WKRN reporter Tori Gessner heard Pike say.
The convicted killer said she was going to leave this world the same way she spent most of her life: "in love,” Associated Press reporter Kim Chandler heard her say.
"She said she had love for the people who were out here hating on her,” Chandler said.
Why are they taking life-saving measures on her when she was sentenced to death? BTW the old trope about a botched execution excusing the condemned is just that - a trope. They are going to heal her and try again, unless there is a reprieve from the Governor or a judge issues a stay. So why try to save her life? I know that' what medical people do but it's ridiculous.
I guess having brain damage may be punishment enough, but is it? She was sentenced to die and deservedly so. You can't murder a romantic rival and expect to not die for the crime.
That last bit about love is odd. But maybe she repented of her sins. I hope so.
anyway she added:
"She closed her statement with saying, ‘I’m at peace. I’m ready to be free.’ Then something about celebrating her freedom, and then she closed with, ‘This is a happy day.’”
About an hour after she was given the first injection, Pike was injected with the second deadly dose of the drug around 8:30 p.m., and witnesses were asked to leave around 20 minutes later.
end
Not if she didn't repent. She will go to a worse place if she did not. So many killers think ending their lives will end their pain, but that isn't so. They have to change internally.
I was just watching a documentary about this chick, a prostitute named Aileen Wuornos , who was a serial killer and was put to death. She wanted to die - she thought she was going to Heaven. But she was unrepentant about it. For years she claimed the first killing was an act of self-defense but why the four others? Eventually she admitted she was a serial killer, but she never showed any remorse and in the clips they showed it was obvious she was not sorry about any of it. That means she was not going to Heaven.
The documentary was pro-Wournos, but they were not able to paint her in anything but a very bad light. You could see evil in her eyes. Yes, she had been abused as a child, but in the end there are two choices - God or vengeance. She chose the latter. She could have un-chose that at any time but as far as I could tell she never did.
People think they are going to Heaven, or some sort of paradise, after they die no matter what. Most people nowadays do not believe in Hell because they think God is all loving and so He couldn't possible do that to someone. But that is not so because God is also all just and has no choice. HE'S not doing it to them - they are choosing it for themselves. How? Because Heaven is not just a paradise, but is being in the personal presence of God Himself. You actually have to choose to be with God. If you do not care for His company He, in His mercy, will allow you to go elsewhere. That elsewhere we call Hell. We don't know what it's like but it's probably not the Medieval vision of a torture chamber. More likely it's a neutral place (it's described in the Bible as the outer darkness) where damned humans mingle with damned angels (demons). Everybody is pretty nasty there and the true punishment comes from being forced to hang out with a bunch of assholes. They torment each-other because there is nothing else to do for eternity. I once read a near death experience and the temporarily deceased man (an atheist) said Hell isn't so bad - it's the people". I'm sure he's right. But it's where you go if you don't want to be with God, and that is of your own choosing. You may want a better place and you had the option your whole life for one, as well as the option even in death (but by the time you are in Hell you will no longer choose that -your mind is made up) but you chose to reject God. If you were a decent person on Earth you probably go to a place that is neutral, or maybe even nice. In Dante's Inferno Limbo was the first level of Hell, and it was a nice place, a paradise, but the people there were horribly dissatisfied with their existence because they know they were meant for so much more but rejected it. Many good atheists were in Limbo. But Limbo is in Hell. (Purgatory, on the other hand, was a place of suffering but it was part of Heaven.)
So just because you think yourself a good person or misunderstood you are not guaranteed a good afterlife; you must do more, you have to choose God. He's a gentleman; He won't impose himself on you.
So I can't say for sure what is going on with this woman; maybe God is giving her a second chance to repent, maybe she already repented but God wants her to suffer more to purge her sins, or maybe this is a demonic trick of some sorts. I don't know. I hope that whatever happens she avails herself of this opportunity granted her. The drug given her to die causes a lethal rise in potassium levels which normally stops the heart. It's pretty brutal; my doctors accidentally did that to me and, although my heart didn't stop, I thought it would. I felt it beating like a drum and had to be rushed to the hospital (they gave me potassium pills to offset another medication but it just spiked my potassium way up). It's not a good way to die, but it's far from the worst. Maybe the Governor will take pity on her and commute her sentence to life in prison.
But probably not, and they will give it another go. I really don't think they should have tried to save her life after the two injections; what's the point? I read about how when giving lethal injections the attending nurse swabs the spot with alcohol. How ridiculous is that? Infection is not going to be an issue.
Anyway let's pray this woman profits from the extra time she was granted.
