Well, well, well; looks like the Democrats are feeling the heat. Chuck Schumer actually said he's closer on trade to Trump than Obama at least as far as China is concerned.
According to Breitbart: "
End exxcerpt.
What does this mean? It means that, despite public displays of optimism, the Democrats are secretely worried about the upcoming elections. It means they know the internationalist agenda of Obama and Bush was not popular - especially with the traditional base of the Democratic Party, the labor union workers and displaced manufacturing employees. It means that Schumer is realizing that he's going to have to toss out the plan to dump the white working class in favor of minorities because Trump is in danger of taking them to the GOP, and if that happens it could end up being very bad for the Democrats.
The Rust Belt blue collar workers used to be the heart and soul of the Democrats. But internationalism has led to many manufacturing jobs going overseas, and environmentalism has contributed to unemployment of coal miners and other energy sector workers as the Democrats have labored to raise the cost of energy and push "green" technologies bought from the Chinese. Meanwhile, the cornerstone of the Democratic plan of political hegemony is to create a permanent majority of minorities by open border schemes, amnesties, and unrestrained legal immigration as well. All of this takes jobs from native born Americans, and the former solidly blue union types are not happy. Not at all.
Trump tapped into that in the last election, and he won the Presidency by going after traditionally blue rust belt states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania. Hillary campaigned heavily in the places she already owned - California, for example. The end result was Hillary won more votes (maybe; one wonders how many illegal votes turned up in heavily Hispanic areas) but she lost the Electoral College.
I suspect Schumer sees this and he, at least, is trying to hedge his bets. Yes, the cornerstone is still the influx of aliens to replace the America voter (doing the job Americans just won't do) but the old Schu still hopes to pick off a few of the old voting block. It's "how do we fool them today" with Donald Trump driving the agenda.
It's a good sign.
