Indeed, the DOJ is now in a quagmire from which it cannot extricate itself. They have essentially created an intelligence ponzi scheme which has to be fed by new information coming from old information.

Yesterday I saw a rerun of The Goldbergs. The oldest boy - an idiot - accidentally sank a golf cart in a lake. His solution was to steal another and give replace the one he lost, then steal another to replace that one. He figured if he could keep stealing golf carts and replacing the ones he stole nobody would ever get wise. This whole probe is starting to look a lot like that.

Their hope is to wait out the Administration then quietly let this drop, perhaps.

Iran Contra special prosecutor Lawrence Walsh did it that way. He refused to stop investigating Reagan, He wasted a lot of taxpayer money and then quietly dropped the investigation after Reagan left office. It was never about actually charging Reagan with anything, but rather with putting a dark cloud over the Administration to neuter it. This is what RosenMueller is doing now.
