Lee Smith, writing at Real Clear Investigations delineates a plot by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to disobey Trump's declassification order and withold information pertaining to the FISA warrant application to spy on then candidate Trump.
Smith makes the case:
In the 178-page court document, DOJ officials said they had "determined that disclosure of redacted information in the Carter Page FISA documents could reasonably be expected to interfere with the pending investigation into Russian election interference.â€
End excerpt.
Got that? He's simply going to refuse to release this to Congress on the theory that it would obstruct the Mueller probe. Huh? The Mueller probe is a direct result of that FISA application in the first place. What wonderful circular reasoning; you can't see it because it might impede an investigation that you prompted with this document in the first place. Cute trick.
It's well past time for Congress to subpeona Rosenstein and - if necessary - cite him with Contempt of Congress.
