The St. Louis Blues bested the Boston Bruins last night in game five of the Stanley Cup in Beantown. In a close game that was bitterly fought the Blues came out on top with a 2 to 1 victory after scoring a third period goal that has caused an uproar in sports media.
The winning goal (actually, the goal drove the score up to 2 to zero but the Bruins came back to score one) was scored after Tyler Bozak appeared to trip Bruins defenseman Noel Acciari enabling the Blues to score. NBC announcers and fans in Boston threw trash and debris on the ice to show their displeasure at the goal being allowed to stand and there being no penalty call. Cameras even caught Bruin Cam Neely throwing watermelon, er, a water bottle in rage. The Bruins came back to score one goal, which would have been the tying goal had they succeeded.
I suppose the Bruins fans have forgotten that Blues the Blues Oskar Sundqvist was suspended for game three despite only receiving a two minute penalty in game two. That was a huge miscarriage of sporting justice. And the Bruins have repeatedly benefitted from calls against the Blues, many of which were retaliations for vile transgressions that the inhabitants of The Hub of the Solar System visited upon the Blues.
In fact, at least one report claims the Bruins are filing suit in Federal Court to overturn the results of last nights game. The suit is expected to land before an Obama appointed judge, so it will likely require appeal by the Blues. Congressman Adam Schiff has declared he will investigate, and will cite any members of the Blues organization with Contempt of Congress should they decline to testify.
Given that the Blues have a couple of Russian nationals on their team, Robert Mueller is expected to come out of retirement to investigate Russian collusion and tampering with the NHL. There is a real need to know what Donald Trump knew and when he knew it. The sport media is particularly vociferous in that regard.
All eyes will be on St. Louis on Sunday when the contest returns to the Gateway City. Should the Blues win at home it will be proof of collusion and the cup must be denied them, because they will have stolen it from it's rightful owners.
Maybe the good people of Boston remember a Superbowl in 2002 when their beloved Patriots stole the St. Louis Rams playbook at cheated their way to victory, a victory that established the Patriots dynasty ever since? Now you know how it feels to lose under less than honest circumstances. The New England Patriots have been stealing superbowl rings for years.
