A 12 point summary of the 1965 essay "Repressive Tolerance” by German Marxist Intellectual Herbert Marcuse

1. Only the Left can define "tolerance.”
2. Right-wing ideas and movements must be stopped, with violence if necessary, as they encourage oppression of the weak.
3. Tolerance should be extended only to "truth.”
4. Only Leftists know what is true.
5. Therefore tolerance should only be extended to Leftists
6. Anyone who disagrees with the Left must have been indoctrinated.

9. Promoting left-wing thought is accomplished by:
