This is not good news! Gunmaker Remington to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

They've been around a long time! The home I grew up in had a .70 cal. percussion cap smoothbore Remington rifle with "1874" stamped on the receiver. And they'd been in business quite a while before that.

However, this may not be so bad. The article DOES state that Remington intends to "keep on keepin' on" during the bankruptcy and one might assume they intend to come out of this unburdened by their current ownership. If so, this is A Good Thing!
