Today marks the 21st anniversary of the attacks n the United States, starting with the World Trade Center and then the Pentagon.
On that day our nation truly had it's finest hour, setting aside all the hatred and acrimony and coming together in unity behind our bretheren.
And our emergency people (I never liked the term "first responders") were beyond magnificent, risking their lives - and many dying - to rescue the victims of those horrible crimes.
It was perhaps our finest hour. It is a shame it didn't last and that now we are in the throes of strife, anger, and hatred for our country. If our country was so bad we would never have seen the heroism and decency we did that day. It's the very heart and sould of America, or used to be.
We honored and respected our people and our nation. I wish that were true today.

Yep. They were at it from the day after the towers fell. I remember Tom Dashel made a deal with the Republican Speaker of the House to close the Capitol and after the Republicans did their part he refusede to close the Senate, making him and his party look brave and the Republicans cowardly. That just after the attack. It showed all they could think about was how it impacted them and not what was best for the country.
