Redistribution of Wealth is Trickier Than we Thought

Lance Sjogren

What is "equity" about? It is a belief that the goal of society should be equal outcomes for all.

We know that in any society in which people can live their lives as they choose, some will be more successful than others.

So the only way to achieve equity is a totalitarian society in which the government sees to it that no one is successful whatsoever.

Another term for this, of course, is Marxism.

In practice, true equity never happens because those in charge steal whatever they can for themselves. It winds up being the most unequal society of all. That's probably why half-wit leftists always talk about how Marxism has always been a failure in practice simply because the people to implemented it did it wrong.

Today's equity movement is a pretty brazen example of that. Oligarchs and politicians who get rich by influence peddling and then prance around portraying themselves as philanthropists .

Tim adds:

Do you remember the Dennis Moore sketch on the oold Monty Python's Flying Circus? Dennis Moore stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Eventually the rich became poor and the poor rich and he kept stealing from them anyway. "He steals from the poor and gives to the rich....stupid bitch" the song went. Moore exclaimed "this redistribution of wealth is trickier than I thought" and at the end he has as stage coach stopped and has the people hold out their valuables while he hands them all around "you need one of those, you don't need these..."

Redistributing wealth invariably leads to inequality and injustice and slows economic growth as there are no fruits for ones labor. Why work when you get someone else's reward?

1 I had this very conversation with a couple several months ago. The couple who proclaimed that "we would do it right," unlike all the others who had done it wrong, were in their mid forties and neither of them worked for a living because they had accumulated so much money that they didn't need to. Need I say more?

2 Ah Bill; so typical. Armchair economists. They never actually made wealth and they think having it means they know better.

The "right people"?  There are no right people. It's corrupt at it's core.
