So much for the Christian precept of obeying all the laws of a country.

The pope selected Bishop Evelio Menjivar-Ayala to lead the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, a role overseeing the Catholic community across West Virginia.

"Any insinuation that the Holy Father made this or any other appointment in any way to increase vitriol or insinuate that it gets back at the president of the United States is absurd," a Wheeling diocese spokesperson said, according to Fox News.

As a teenager fleeing violence in El Salvador during the country’s civil conflict, Menjivar-Ayala made multiple attempts to reach the U.S. before eventually crossing the border hidden in the trunk of a car near San Ysidro, California.

In recent years, he has been outspoken against stricter enforcement measures, describing them as matters of human dignity and human rights. He has also directly responded to criticism from some Catholic figures aligned with tougher immigration policies, including officials within the Trump administration.

There is no question this is a thumb in the eye of President Trump and the Americn People who put Trump in office to secure our borders.

Prevost is showing himself to be as bad as Francis.

In one of the most preposterously stupid articles I've ever seen in the increasingly irrelevant American Spectator Paul Kengor argues this pontiff is a "conservative Republican". Read the comments; they destroy his whole argument quite successfully.

A Conservative would not elevate a lawbreaker to Bishop, epecially one who still wants to open America's borders.

That statement is moe full of balogna than an Oscar Meyer factory.

You know full well that Francis stacked the College of Cardinals and he wanted his replacement to carry on with his work of destroying, er, modernizing the Church. It was always said there would never be an Amerrican Pope because that would be placing too much power in the United States yet here they chose Leo. There is only one reason - to act as a counterweight to President Trump and the MAGA movement, to split American Catholics from the whole movement. You can deny that all you like but it's true enough.

You also know that Prevost spent decades in Peru and bno doubt absorbed the Liberation Theology therein. He certainly speaks like a Liberation Theologian (and you probably remember that John Paull II suppressed that movement, which was created by the KGB).

You say he's not Liberal but you can't explain why he used Just War Theory wholly incorrectly to condemn Trump's efforts in Iran. He showed himself to be willfully ignorant of JWT and of the realities of a nuclear-arming Iran. Trump is doing the Lord's work here and even a dimwit should be able to see that; the regime murdered 40,000 of it's own citizens, threatened all of it's neighbors, and attacked them, hitting the UAE with more missiles than they hit the U.S. or even Israel. But Leo just disregarded the whole matter.

He claimed God does not listen to those who wage war. Ri-ight. I guess he never heard of King David then? Or seen the multiple Biblical passages about warfare and how it is used to protect the People and thus God ordains it.

You insist Prevost is a conservative and yet you provide zero evidence of that fact. His being pro-life when he was younger does not necessarily mean he's Conservative. There are pro-life liberals, or used to be anyway. Ditto his comments about mass media during Pope Benedict's reign. Any social climber would do likewise if they thought it would help them get aheead. I can just look at his record as of now and see that is not so. He's continuing with Francis' leftist policies - funny way for a "conservative" to operate given Francis' radicalism.

You attack Trump for his Christianity. I for one won't judge Mr. Trump on that score as Jesus said "judge not lest ye be judged" and religioin is a personal matter for Mr. Trump; he's not trying to usurp the role of the Pope (although the Pope is certainly trying to usurp Mr. Trump's role).

How do you know that? You are just making unwarranted assumptions because you obviously despise the President. And again he isn't running for Pope; this is what a religious person would discuss more than a President, especially one so practical minded as Mr. Trump.

i would add this Pope, when pressed on gay marriage and other such issues, said he had bigger fish to fry than saving souls from damnation through sexual sin:

"First of all, I think it's very important that the unity or division of the church should not revolve around sexual matters," "We tend to think that when the church is talking about morality that the only issue of morality is sexual. And in reality I believe there are greater and more important issues such as justice, equality, freedom of men and women, freedom of religion that would all take priority before that particular issue."

Sounds an awful lot like DEI to me. And it sounds like he's just giving a wink and a nod to deviant sexual behavior, the kind that gets you tossed into Hell.

In fact this Pontiff hasn't so much as wasted one breath on Christians being slaughtered in the Middle East and Africa. Nor did he waste breath on the Iranian People murdered. But he had plenty to say about President Trump.

Speaking of gay marriage Leo said

Uh, Neither homosexuals nor the effeminate will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven according to Paul, who was taught direclty BT Jesus. He has damnation on his hands.

His JOB is to save souls, not play footsie with the Left. But that is exactly what he is doing.

If he were not a liberal he would bring back the guys Pope Francis drove out. That would go a long way to avoid a schism but he won't do THAT.

Maybe the Pope's brother Lou is conservative but that doesn't mean he is. My own brother is a liberal Democrat.

Lots of Democrats vote in the Republican primary. Happens all the time. That is hardly proof that he's a Republican. And if he is he's an Illinois type Republican, which is RINO to the core.

All your waxing poetic about Russell Kirk and this "higher standard" thinking that got us creamed has led us to now face our own extinction as a belief system and a way of life and yet you argue the Pope is the true Conservative and not the President who actually is doing something about the Left. So when we lose we can hold our heads high - until they chop them off, of course, but we can say we stood firm! Paul that is the way to lose everything.

You can talk all you want about the high-minded traditions this Pope has espoused and his classical training and everything else but you judge a thing by the fruit it bears. This Pope has failed to do anything that he should have done. But he sure can bash President Trump.

So can you Paul.
