If this is about science why would she do that? If she wants the epidemic to end why resist this drug? Seems to me the lady is playing politics with people's lives. But then, we knew that already.

Why is she doing that? Because hydroxychloroquine is a generic drug which, having outlived its patent, is extremely inexpensive and makes no profit for the pharmaceutical industry.

Bill is undoubtedly right about this, but don't forget the other problem that the drug has: Trump is in favor of it, so it has two strikes against it, which means that every Democrat in the country would like to have it pulled off the market.
If that weren't bad enough, the drug initially was "created" to treat something else. It just happens to work very nicely on a coronavirus and product no problematic side effects. Democrats don't like such situations. So: three strikes. BAN IT.

And do not forget, the Democrats don't WANT a drug to treat this. They want this thing burning through the next election. It's monstrous but it's how they think.
