Judge Jeanine Pirro has gone native, it seems, refusing to prosecute the reflecting pool slasher.

Her reason? She thinks the contractor screwed up and so the pools was compromised anyway.

That doesn't matter; the act in and of itself is illegal, not whether the vandal was successful or not.

David Hearn, the vandal, was a former Olympian who attempted to vandalize the pool by yanking "forcefully" on the soft liner. When a Parks Service employee told him to stop he screamed at him and refused to quit.

Hearn was indicted by a Grand Jury for felony destruction of property in a D.C. Superior Court.

Pirro believes that this case will not hold after seeing the drained pool. She believes the contractors screwed up the installation in a rush to be ready for July 4.

But this doesn't change the fact Hearn was TRYING to vandalize the pool.

Pirro dismissed the charges without prejudice, meaning Hearn could be prosecuted at a later date.

This may be because Pirro didn't think she could ger a conviction but I wonder; so many Republicans go native once they get inside the beltway and Pirro always seemed to me to be a self-promoter, at least to a degree. I wonder if some Republicans didn't talk to her and get her to drop the case to avoid a messy situation going into the elections.

No doubt Democrats would use this case to argue the GOP was "out of control" and launching political witch-hunts. Of course the irony is lost in that they bitterly opposed Trump's anti-weaponization fund which compensated people for being abused by legal authority for political reasons yet they would accuse Trump of abusing people with the weaponization of the law for political reasons. But hypocrisy never sticks to Democrats because the media sees to it that it does not.

I suspect some of the Republicans closeted her and pressured her into dropping the charges. Pirro wasn't one to let the law be broken and the lawbreaker get away with it - which is precisely what is happening here.
