Penny Not Guilty!

Timothy Birdnow

The verdict is in - NOT GUILTY!

I didn't think it could happen in a New York jury room.

1 Rejoice and give thanks. And to Neely's angry father who is crying "raaaaacist" (of course), it's of no use to tell him it would have been much better if he'd been a father to his son rather than let him become a hopeless out-of-control druggie.

2 Agreed Dama.

I hear Neely's old man now wants to sue over this, despite the fact he hadn't been in his son's life and hadn't had any sort of positive impact; merely another race-hustler trying to cash in.

I wonder if that scumbag Saul Goodman-type ambulance chaser Krump is talking to the old coot?

3 Crump? Haven't heard his name in relation to this -- yet. But it could happen, although I think Penny is cleared very clearly and people are not at all interested in having this case re-opened.

4 I agree Dana. But of course a civil action has to be answered in a court of law no matter how stupid it is.

I wonder if there is any way Penny could countersue? Maybe for slander and defamation of character?

In my view nobody should be able to sue someone for something that for which they have been acquitted, but then that's not the way it works.

The coroner's report does not list Penny's actions as cause of  death; that should be the end of any lawsuit. But of course it won't be.

5 Oh, I think it was Larry Elder who said that what probably happened in this trial was all of the jurors wanted to vote for an acquittal on the whole thing but  there was one holdout - a holdout who caved after the Manslaughter charge was dropped because he realized he was fighting a losing battle. It wasn't a split jury, but just one partisan Democrat who wanted to "send a message". Penny was so obviously not guilty it boggles the mind how this case was ever brought to trial. But that's Alvin Bragg for you!
