COLUMBUS VS. INDIGENIOUS PEOPLE (holiday)

Me here: The ONLY reason we give this holiday to Indians and take it away from explorers, we no longer celebrate achievements - We celebrate victimhood.

Martha and I watch a TV series called Great American Railroads, and a lot of it takes place in Canada, and if you can believe what the host tells you, Canada was a lot nastier to its "First Settlers" (or whatever they're called) than we in the U.S.

2 Yeah yeah so they say. But I don't really believe them. I know a lot of Canadians who deny that claim.

There is a huge push for "native rights" in Canada right now and I suspect they are pumping up mistreatment claims to get new laws passed. I know there was the story of village burnings and recently some Indians have taken to burning churches up there in reprisal for what happened in the 19th century. David Ball (Climatologist Tim Ball's son) told me the whole original story is hogwash, that the villages were probably burned by other Indians.

I don't know. But it seems to me the English settled in far fewer numbers than did we, and in lands with natives who had far fewer resources.

Be that as it may, I am sure they didn't treat the Indians any better than did we, nor did the Indians treat the white settlers any better. It's human nature and under identical conditions the result would be the same, methinks.

I would add that most programs today are made in Canada, which is why they have such left-wing spin.

I sometimes watch reruns of "Doomsday Preppers" and get annoyed at their insistence on using metric numbers. The people are always in the U.S., usually in the South, yet they are always talking about meters and kilograms and whatnot. Why? No doubt because the show was produced by Canadians.
