That's how it felt to me too. I was in my father's room at the nursing home he is temporarily living in and was struck by it like an electric shock. I wasn't born yet when Kennedy was assassinated but that is what I hear everyone felt then.

I know; Kirk was just an activist (like the Reverend Dr.Martin Luther King) and not President (or Attorney General) but everyone could feel the impact of this good man and his death was more than just a basic murder. It suggested something fundamental was changing in America.
I am mindful of the Book of Revelations where it said the martyrs were waiting "that their number should be complete" after which the plagues of the apocalypse would come. Was Charlie the last martyr? Maybe that's why it has shaken the whole nation.
