Odd. Mr. Soros justifies he endless political meddling as his promotion of an "open society". He claims he is about supporting opposition groups so as to create balance and competition. Yet here he spends half a billion dollars to put the establishment guy in power.
Shows what a liar he is.
I wonder how many votes were manufactured for this little kabuki theater?

Before the election, some conservative pundits were saying that Larry Elder, though a well-known and "good" guy, wasn't the right person to challenge Newsom, that a real political star was needed. No names were advanced, and I doubt there are any noteworthy Republican politicians in Kalifornica anyway.
Newsom is now going to use this as an excuse to claim that he's now the "big guy" in the Democrat Party and should be on their ticket in 2024. If he does this, he'd better stay far away from Kammie.

Great insights Dana. And the RINO Republicans will use this to promote more liberal Republicans over conservatives.

On her way home from choir rehearsal last evening, Martha was listening to a talk show host who said California is a lost cause, and that all the conservatives there should move to Texas or Florida, or another red state.

They probably should. I see no way of taking power from the Democrats at this point. The Democrats learned long ago how to turn cities permanently and now they know how to do it with whole states. Machine politics was always snickered about but it was a deadly danger to the health of the Republic and the GOP should have taken it seriously. They didn't and now whole states are swallowed and they STILL don't take it seriously.
That is the dance of the damned.
