This is only half right; the younger generation was pushed rightward IN PART by the LIES told about Covid, not the virus itself as the Atlantic scribbler seems to believe.

And the financial waste. And the strongarm tactics employed to compel compliance to arbitrary rules. And the high inflation caused by overspending to "save" us.

They saw that the old curmudgeons who doubted everything we were told about Covid were right and the "experts" who gave such stellar advice were monumentally wrong - in fact obviously lying.

Of course there are many other reasons why people moved to MAGA; illegal immigration is one example. Too many young Americans saw they had no chance at a good job as long as people who would work for much cheaper simply walked in and were given jobs. Oh, and the embarassment factor; look at the humiliations we faced with, say, the Afghanistan withdrawl. High gas prices didn't make anyone happy, either.

I could go on, but Covid was certainly in the mix and it did not rebound well for the Left. It was THEIR plot to remove Donald Trump, after all. It worked for a time but the public saw that Trump had been all that was holding the U.S. together. Four more years of Biden or a Biden clone would put this nation in a pine box.

In the end you can fool some of the people some of the time, all of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all of the time, as Abe Lincoln said (himself a rather crooked cue who tried to fool as many people as he could, but that's a story for another essay.) The Ruling Class got cocky; they tried to fool everyone all the time. They overplayed their hand and now everyone knows them for the liars they are.
