Newsom Fiddles...

Timothy Birdnow

There is talk of a recall election to remove Gavin Newsom so I guess it makes sense from his perspective. But talk about a tin ear!

Governor Newsom Reacts to Wildfires by Launching Campaign Website.

Maybe he can talk about snail darters and electric vehicles instead of raging infernos...

1  Never let a crisis go to waste on display for all to see. In the end its all Trumps fault anyway even this move by Nero Newsom to cash in on it.

2 They already are trying to blame Trump for this; NOAA came out with a report saying last year was "warmest since record keeping began" even though it wasn't by any definition. They need to blame co2 and those "climate deniers" like Trump and not their own mismanagement.

3 When things go bad they invariably go from bad to worse. I have been watching out HOA board of directors. They have depleted our monetary reserve from $7 million to less than $1 million, while borrowing to meet regular operating expense with no announced plan for paying it back. They have not issued a financial report for more than 18 months (in violation of state law), and are paying employees (one worker at $32/hr) for 8 hours per day and allowing them to actually work for barely over 6 hours. They are automatically reelected, since they do not allow anyone else to run.

4 Oh yes, the dreaded HOA. Bill, I feel your pain; used to do property management and had to deal with those jackasses all the time.

Bureacracy inevitably degenerates into that. It's why they should have limited power.

I do want to know when these HOA things became standard. Time was the local municipality or county ran the basic services, not some quasi private dictatorship.  And it was one of the few things governments used to do well.

I live in the City of St. Louis and despite the city being a horrible, corrupt place the basic services - sewer, water, trash, etc. - are actually quite good. Those in power know they have to do those right or the public will rebel.

Ah well. At any rate you have my sympathy Bill.
