More on the Philippines Volcano

A major eruption of Taal volcano in the Philippines is in progress, started at 6:30 UTC today. The Himawari-8 IR imagery suggests to me that it is penetrating the stratosphere, which is necessary for there to be any global cooling effect. If anyone has updates on the strength of the eruption, please share. This link will take you to a satellite loop of the eruption.
