The purge of senior editors at the major newspapers last week is no cause for cheering. Their resignations are another milestone in the march of identity politics and 'cancel culture'... and American journalism and democracy will be worse for it.
Ostensibly independent opinion sections were ransacked because the social-justice warriors in the newsroom opposed a single article espousing a view that tens of millions of Americans support. The publisher failed to back up his editors.

Monism - the idea that everything is a part of everything and so there should be no separation between aspects of life - is at the root of this. Everything is political. It goes back to Rousseau's The Social Contract where he argues precisely that. (He got the idea from Islam where there is no separation of church and state but a single entity.)
