1 He wouldn't have messed with a K-9 I met many years ago! I was doing grad work in a music program, and often hung out with the students at the band building, which was off-campus. It was regularly patrolled and one night the patrol coincided with "our gang" hanging at the building. The K-9 was the biggest dog I'd ever seen up to that point, and the officer handling him said he was a half-breed: part wolf. None of us even wanted to try to pet him...

3 Yeah Dana; there are dogs and there are guard/military/police dogs. The latter are in a whole different category.

When I was a boy of about eight or so I almost got mauled by two Dobermans. I was walking home from school and this guy left his dogs out on his lawn unattended. I remember seeing them playing with each-other, then they both turned and looked at me and I knew what was coming. They snarled and chased me. I tried to climb up on a car on the street and felt one of the dogs teeth catch my pants leg. In another two seconds I was going to be dog chow. Luckily the owner showed up and called them back, then was glaring at ME as if it was my fault his hell-hounds tried to kill me! What a jackass!

I've never been very fond of large dogs as a result; it was quite traumatic.
