Leftist Coup in Poland
Timothy Birdnow
Poland is
in chaos as the Prime Minister and President vie for power.
Turns out Russia wasn't the problem for Poland, their own political class was.
FTA:
Warsaw [Poland], October 31 (ANI): Poland has plunged into a severe constitutional and political crisis following an intense escalation of the ongoing power struggle between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Karol Nawrocki, after heavily armed police units cordoned off the headquarters of the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw on Friday night.
Police cordoned off the building holding the Constitutional Tribunal, the President's branch of government.
The article continues:
The crisis intensified rapidly after Korwin-Piotrowska issued a one-month suspension against Constitutional Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and his deputy, Bartłomiej Sochański, thereby temporarily assuming control of the institution.
Prime Minister Tusk is a pro-E.U. leftist and President Święczkowski, the Law and Justice Party head, is a Conservative Make Poland Great Again guy. Tusk got a pet judge to suspend Święczkowski for a month (and you know once he's out he will never be allowed back in) over policy differences revolving around control of the judiciary. (Does any of this sound familiar? President Trump has had similar problems, but more importantly we have just seen this in Brazil.)
The Constitutional Tribunal is a kind of Supreme Court whose purpose is to resolve Constitutional issues. If you wanted to seize control of Poland you would first try to get this Tribunal out of the way. That's just what the internationalist Donald Tusk has done with this move. He's seized control of the Tribunal.
This clearly is an attempted coup. And it was classic color revolution; a bunch of ginned up protests outside of the building leads the tender-hearted Tusk to cordon the building off "for the protection of the Tribunes" who are now under the thumb of the wannnabe tyrant.
This is a dispute going back to 2015. Now Tusk is trying to end it once and for all.
In 2015 the conservative United Right came to power, defeating the globalist government of Bronisław Komorowski . Komorowski, in one of his final acts, used a new law to appoint 5 new judges, and there were multiple irregularities in how this was done. The incoming President Andrzej Duda refused to swear these jokers in, citing the irregularities.
The end result was a standing battle as the Executive and the Court. The Constitutional court ruled the hastily passed law allowing the liberal to appoint judges unconstitutional. The Leftists refused to accept this ruling.
The Sejm (parliament) passed a new law that demanded that a vote had to be held in plenary session and that 13 judges must be present. New judges would require a 2/3 majority vote. The Constitutional Court ruled this law unconstitutional. The Executive claimed this ruling was null because they did not use the required 13 judge majority put in place by the law the Court ruled illegal.
The government repealed the 2015 act.
In 2023 the United Right lost power but the Constitutional Court was still full of their appointees.
The new government wanted to remove at least three of the judges on the Tribunal, claiming they were not qualified. They also deemed the compromise legislation on the Tribunal was unconstitutional, usurping the role of the Tribunal.
You see where this is going; this is no different than the Democrats talk of packing the Supreme Court. If they try to do that we could have the same Constitutional crisis as Poland is now undergoing.
This year President Karol Nawrocki refused to swear in five of the eight judges appointed by the Sejm. President of the Tribunal Święczkowski refused to seat them if they were not sworn in, and thus the current crisis. One in particular, Micaciej Berek was Tusks "right hand man". The court refused to seat him.
Nawrocki demanded Berek prove he was qualified, including ten years of legal experience, which the law requires.
The eight nominees eventually took an oath before the Sejm, and said that qualified them for a seat on the court.
Near the end of October a poll conducted by IBRiS for Rzeczpospolita found that 32.7% of respondents believed that neither president Nawrocki nor prime minister Tusk are right in the Constitutional Tribunal dispute; 32% of the respondents sided with the president, while 27.8% sided with the prime minister.
What does that tell us? It tells us this is a power grab by the leftists to seize control of the court. The public vote is close but sides with the outgoing President over the leftist Prime Minister.
Yesterday judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska ordered the suspension of the chief judge on the court and his associate and is opening a criminal investigation. She has no authority to do this but did it anyway. Anna Korwin-Piotrowska is in deep with Tusk.
So the government dispatched riot police because of "incidents" (right) and essentially the Court is under siege by paramilitary thugs. It's a classic coup, no question.
This is what they will do to us if they win Congress. Poland should be a cautionary tale. The Polish People have forgotten how bad Communism is and how they fought to free themselves from it. Now they are jumping on board the crazy train once again. But remember, the country was under the thumb of Communists for many decades and the people who had been in power didn't just go away. They lurked in the shadows. Now they are emerging and showing their Bolshevism. This should concern all of us.
If Poland falls the rest of Europe probably will too in short order. And the Left in America will try to pull this same dirty trick. Be warned.
