Las Castas

 Timothy Birdnow

When the Spanish built their colonial empire they did so not on largely unpopulated territory that would define the English and French settlements to the north but rather on lands that were civilized or nearly so, lands with reasonably high aboriginal populations. The first Spaniards to come were men, and without Spanish senioritas to comfort them at night they turned to the local women. A vast number of Mestizos - mixed Indian and European peoples - were the fruits of those early unions. After a while the Spanish brought in slaves from Africa who then bred Mulatto children, and the African and Indian peoples interbred, too as well as the Mulatto and Mestizo peoples. The Spanish - who were quite race conscious as all peoples were in that era - created a carefully plotted chart, Las Castas or genizaros https://www.encyclopedia.com/humanities/encyclopedi
as-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/caste-and-class-structure-colonial-spanish-america
, to keep track of Spanish "pure" blood.

There were 4 main racial categories: Peninsular Spanish born in Spain, Criollo (native born Spaniards), Indio, and Negro. Each of these was divided into innumerable sub-groupings based on how much blood of each category an individual possessed. These classifications determined the course of the individual's life. Their place in society, their professions, their levels of taxation, etc. Casts - the mixed race individuals - would come to over a hundred different mixes, each with specific status and obligations. Peninsular Spanish aka Espanoles were at the top while those of pure Negro descent occupied the lowest rung of the ladder as slaves. The lower levels were generally expected to pay more in taxes than the higher casts while their livelihood was limited to the least desirable levels. The Peninsular and Creoles ran the government and all major businesses.

The current darling of the Democrats and the media is a woman named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and she recently announced she was part Jewish. https://jewishweek.timesofis

The Westchester raised https://yonkerstimes.com/ocasio-cortez-not-proud-of-westchester-roots/ socialist bartender who tries to claim she was a poor Hispanic child from the Bronx has obvious political motives in a state that features a high Jewish population, and she certainly is taking her cue from the dime store Indian Elizabeth Warren, but one wonders if there isn't more to the story. Certainly the Leftist concept of Intersectionality is coming into play. Occasional Cortex can't rest on merely being of Puerto Rican descent; she needs a few more layers to built up her victimhood cred. Jewishness certainly would help that along.

Intersectionality https://iwda.org.au/what-does-intersectional-feminism-actually-mean/?gcl

is the radical theory of overlapping discrimination; in essence, everything in America is somehow oppressive in it's own way, and these overlapping layers of oppression hurt people in different ways based on their oppressee status. The more victimhood you can pile on the more America's left will support you - and the more the institutions of social justice apply. So a half black, half Native American gay female transvestite with one leg is fairly near the top of the victim ladder. In essence, Zhe is a Peninsular Spaniard in the modern Casta system. An old white heterosexual male occupies the bottom. Essentially we are seeing a system that is an inversion of the old Casta system. It should come as no surprise that this sort of thing is occurring as America's Hispanic population rises; these are people who retain their cultural heritage, which includes the racial pyramid bequeathed them from Colonial Spain. The Individualism and impartiality of the American Experiment is not part of their cultural heritage. And while the Latino immigrants tend to come from the lower part of the Casta pyramid, they will seek to invert that pyramid here in the United States. And this is not coming out of a vacuum; the United States experimented with her own Casta system in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries with a system put in place by the eugenics movement.http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/blog/unwanted-sterilization-and-eugen
ics-programs-in-the-united-states/

The movement - a pseudo-scientific spinoff from Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection - was created by Darwin's cousin Francis Galton and moved through the upper class in America. Eventually eugenicists managed to get laws passed in 32 states allowing for forced sterilization of "undesirables" - black people, unmarried mothers, poor people, people with epilepsy or other diseases, etc. Planned Parenthood was born of the eugenics movement; Margaret Sanger wanted to abort black babies to rid America of the "undesirable" population. Eugenics was a virtual Whose Who of the Progressives https://www.theamericanconservative.c

the time; John Kellogg, Teddy Roosevelt, H.G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw, Winston Churchill, Francis Crick, "Alexander Graham-Bell were some of the more famous fans of eugenics. It was deeply entrenched in the Intelligentsia, with many of the major universities having eugenics departments. it was Charles Van Hise, president of the University of Wisconsin who helped push the sterilization laws in Wisconsin, for instance. (By the way, Minimum Wage laws were intended to drive labor costs up to price out immigrant labor - and thus reduce the number of "mud people" coming in to take these jobs.) Kellogg organized the Race Betterment Foundation in 1911 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/
articles/PMC2757926/
and established a "pedigree registry" to essentially establish the same racial pyramid the Spanish used, only this time to help keep tabs on who was more "fit". This led to the establishment of the Eugenics Record Office. It was at this time that a series of laws were passed to restrict intermarriage, even if a person had just "one drop of blood" from an "unfit" class. Many people found themselves suddenly declared minorities and forced to obey discriminatory laws. A lot of people wound up being sterilized, particularly in California. It should be pointed out that during the '30's Menendez Ramos, Governor of Puerto Rico, signed a law allowing forced sterilization. Ocasio-Cortez is the child of Puerto Rican immigrants.

The point is, the Progressive Left was all for eugenics until they were against it, and their love of racial distinctions hasn't changed all that much, just instead of placing Nordic types at the top they now place them at the bottom. They remain as racist as ever, they have just changed their tactics and goals. Instead of isolating the genome they are seeking to create a better breed via Heterosis.https://www.britannica.com/science/heterosi
s
(Heterosis, or hybrid vigour, is the breeding technique to intensify genetic traits by interbreeding.) But it still amounts to the same thing. They still seek to control the genetic heritage of Mankind. And they can use racial and ethnic differences to promote their endless tinkering with society. So essentially the Progressives want to reinstitute the Casta system. Be it Hispanic culture or Progressive admiration for eugenics, the end is the same; a stratified society determined on who your parents were and not who you choose to be.

What were the fruits of this ideology in Latin America? Latin America has always been impoverished and politically unstable, and that precisely because of the Casta system. There is an inherent unfairness to a society that does not allow upward mobility, or that does not give people a sense of participation in their own destiny. Latin America has always been roiled by revolution and counter-revolution. It has been a place that suffers with a very wealthy upper class that rules and an impoverished rabble that takes the crumbs given it by their betters. This is, of course, precisely what the Progressives want, although they will claim to seek the opposite. It is exactly what we mean by The Swamp, or the Establishment, or the Ruling Class in America. The wonderful Progressives talk about illogical concepts like "fairness" or "equality" - things that cannot possibly exist in this fallen world - but their policies give the exact opposite. By promising foolish people like Ocasio-Cortez an Utopian world they build a prison for everyone.

Intersectionality is pure tyranny. It shackles everyone. We've all enjoyed mocking Lizzie Warren as Fauxcahontas and no doubt we'll mock Occasional Cortex as FauxcaJewish, but we must understand this sort of thing is going to destroy America if we don't take it seriously.
