LA Moratorium on Evictions Because of ICE

Supervisor Lindsey Horvath introduced the motion calling for the drafting of the emergency proclamation in response to a report presented to the board last week by county attorneys on options for possibly enacting an eviction moratorium or other protections for people impacted by the raids.
The Los Angeles Tenants Union advocacy group has been pushing the board for weeks to enact such a moratorium, saying the raids are creating enough fear to prevent people from going to work, or prompting businesses to temporarily close, leaving their employees unable to work.
The county attorney’s report noted that an eviction moratorium could be enacted during a declared local emergency, but it would have to be "temporary and narrowly tailored” to address impacts of the emergency, while also protecting landlords’ due process rights and requiring tenants to ultimately repay back rent.

So private landlords are just expected to eat the cost? They havee mortgages to pay, remember. This will make housing disappear even more and become more expsneive.
Tupical leftists; they can't conceive of any consequences to their actions. But they can feel good about themselves.
The Trump Administration should sue on behalf of the people being injured by this.

True, leftists can't or don't conceive of the damage they do in situations like this. Or maybe they just don't care. They don't seem to give a rat's hindquarters for private property, after all, unless it belongs to THEM, of course; then they are rabidly possessive of it.

Of course landlords are supposed to eat the cost. Ownership of private property and renting it out is one of the aspects of evil capitalism, and tenants are the victims.

No, they don't give a rats petunia about property rights Dana. That is the very definition of marxism, by the way.
I know Bill and they can't understand why there is a housing shortage under a socialist system like that. They just expect someone who has invested in a building to eat the cost, which means he can't upgrade anyone's apartment or fix things that are broke because his money has to go to pay the mortgage he can't cover with the rents not being paid. Then the community cites him for code violations when he can't fix stuff. Eventually it goes back to the bank and the place gets condemned for being uninhabitable. But they made their point! They really showed those ICE bastards!

Well, Timothy, there's another good point. Government freezes rent by placing limits on raising rent, meaning a landlord's costs go up faster than his income does, and when he can't afford to fix things they call him a slum landlord.
