Even if the power comes back after the next big solar storm, the internet may not. New research shows that the failures could be catastrophic, particularly for the undersea cables that underpin the global internet.

2 I think they are hyping and greatly overstating the power of this specific geomagnetic pulse. They do that generally with everything, and I have little doubt that they are doing so in this instance.

Last night I was having trouble with the phones - and my father and brother both were also. The storm probably was screwing up the satellites. But I suspect that was all that we'd see or will see.

7 No problems to report here as/of 3:25 PM. Planning to have Happy Hour on the deck at about 4:00. Probably get hit by a pulse then.

We DID have major rain and wind storms last night, with a lot of trees downed in some local towns. The wind just turned over a couple of our deck chairs -- which are those cheap plastic things.
