I'm afraid that these days, it's becoming a distinction without a difference. When we can have, as we did in 2020, an openly fraudulent national election without the country rising up to condemn it and overthrow the beneficiaries of it, what does it matter what it's called? We've become a banana republic.

Sadly, few of today's children of all ages, up to and including middle age, have no idea what a democracy is. When asked to define it, they give the definition of anarchy.

Agreed Dana; we have an oligarchy now, with people going to elections but the ruling elites having the power to overrule us if they see fit.

It really is Bill. Now James Doogue is an Aussie and is to be forgiven for this. In fact, he made a pretty good argument using the current dictionary definition, but then the dictionary is the one that's wrong now. Democracy is a very specific thing, and what we have ain't it.
