LA Judge Gives Insane Reason for Going Easy on Felon Who Tried to Blow LAPD Copter Out of the Sky

This guy used an AR 15 to try to take out a police helicopter and had multiple arrests on his record. He was not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

Here is the reasoning for dropping this guy's sentence from 41 years to just 13:

An ex con convicted of using an AR-15 to shoot and hit a LAPD helicopter w/ two officers in it last year has been sentenced to just under 13 years in prison instead of 41 years asked for by the prosecution after the judge said the defendant had acted friendly during the trial, had a substance abuse problem, and said she had the discretion to not impose the gun enhancements the jury had found true against him.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mildred Escobedo was apparently swayed by the scumbag's charm. Douglas Byers, a sixty two year old man, thought it would be fun to shoot at flying cops, a sort of Blue skeet shooting contest. That wasn't enough to get him put away for the rest of his days though.

This chick needs to be in another line of work.
