Was Savannah Guthrie's mother actually kidnapped? Some people don't think so.
This story DOESN'T make sense but law enforcement is hardly giving out everything they know.
If it is a hoax I would ask about the blood found outside the house; it has been confirmed to be Nancy Guthrie's. If this were a publicity stunt, say, I doubt Savannah would cut her mother and sprinkle her blood around. In point of fact the blood spatter pattern suggests a nosebleed, which suggests the poor woman was smacked or punched.
There may indeed be other things at work than ransom; it could be retribution for a story Guthrie did, for example. And as I say, the authorities are not going to give us all the information now, not while there is an active investigation ongoing.
While I appreciate this Chris Swecker fellow (who is listed as a former Assistant Director of the FBI) has a good deal of expertise I would suggest he not speak about matters of which he has limited knowledge. He may know procedure but he doesn't know the facts if he is a FORMER FBI guy.
He is right; the family didn't pay the ransom and that is a bit hard to understand, but they are probably being advised by the FBI or local police not to do so.
At any rate I think there is more to this than meets the eye too but it is irresponsible to speculate on such matters if you are not in the loop but come from a position where you should know some things. I am free to speculate all I wish since I'm just a dude with a low-ranked blog, but that is different.
Of course the authorities may well have asked this fellow to run a disinformation campaign for them.
At any rate the rest of us would be wise to wait for developments. I seriously doubt this has direct family involvement, which is a logical conclusion to draw from Swecker's comments.
But you never know.
Addendum:
Swecker served as assistant director during the Bush 43 Presidency.

We're certainly seeing a huge amount of this on Fox and Newsmax. We certainly would like to see a successful end to this. Naturally, our hearts are with the entire Guthrie family, and fear that it's past time that Nancy will be found alive, considering her need for medication (and her age).
We hope they nab whoever is responsible and that they get the proverbial "book thrown at them!"

Agreed on all counts Dana. This is a terrible thing and needs to end with Mrs. Guthrie returned home safely and the perps locked up for a good long time.
I just wish the media - including Fox News - would stick to facts and not make wild and unsupportable allegations like this.
