India is starting to grow a lot and better the lives of millions because of increased use of fossil fuels. Their coal use is up too.

1 Glad to see India doing well. I've had good relationships with a number of Indians over the years, including a boss (female) who contributed greatly to my "toolkit" during my years in IT.

2 We should have supported India instead of China to produce our cheap stuff.

Indians are a much better people in that they have no imperial ambitions and are generally peaceable. But guys like Newt Gingrich thought they could bribe China into becoming a liberal democracy and it failed miserably - all we did was make them our rivals.

I'm all for empowering India. Let them act as a bulwark against China and the Islamic world.
