Dear Mr. Pitts,
In your Miami Herald column, reprinted today, April 18, 2017 in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch you lament the fact that you will disappoint a reader identified as "BP" because you do not intend to become a "beacon of light" in order to please her. You will, if the tone of your column is any indication, remain as bitter and accusatory as you have been for many years.
You did say in the column, "I am after all, the same guy who once wrote columns denouncing politicians who blithely floated the idea of secession." Are we to infer from this piece that you have now reassessed your thinking and believe that secession is a good idea? Can we make the further inference that you bashed supposed secessionists back in 2009 when they opposed your President and his goal of "fundamentally transforming" the USA, but now support those trying to detach California from the Union? If that is the case then you are guilty of hypocrisy in the sense that you attack those who propose something that you support when the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak.
I will congratulate on one point. You actually managed to get through a column with out descending into a diatribe of racial hatred. For that we must be grateful!
