Effingham County, Illinois, a rather far-flung ex-urb of St. Louis, has declared itself a sancturary city for the Second Amendment.

The Belleville News Democrat tells us:



"The county board Monday passed the resolution on an 8-1 vote and directed employees not to enforce new Illinois laws that would "unconstitutionally restrict the Second Amendment."

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler tells the Effingham Daily News that the action is largely symbolic. He says the resolution won't control decision making at the sheriff's office. Sheriff Dave Mahon said if the state were to pass such a law he would consult with the state's attorney and the Illinois Sheriff's Association before deciding what to do."

Good for them! It's time we start turning the Left's tactics back on them. They've been pulling this sort of nonsense on us for years, and now it's time to take these matters into our own hands.

Let's see how the Democrats who run Illinois and the Governor who may as well be a Democrat behave here. They are the ones who keep going to court to protect Sanctuary Cities for illegal aliens; let's see them flip their arguments over and try to compel obedience to their unconstitutional law.
