Harris May Wind Up on SCOTUS

Timothy Birdnow

Uuugh....

Kamala Harris may head to Supreme Court after election loss

Apparently there is pressure being exerted on Sonia Sotomayor to retire and allow Biden to appoint Harris to SCOTUS, thus denying Trump a potential appointment.

Harris as a Supreme Court Justice? May as well give a monkey a machine gun (a wonderful line from Better Call Saul).. She is far too stupid to be a Justice - and far too willing to impose her personal views over the law or the Constitution. The woman has neither the temperament nor the intellect to be on America's top court.

The Supreme Court has largely been the one branch of government where actual scholarship and intellect are considered. Not always, certainly; Sotomayor herself isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and she's a certified genius next to Katanya-Brown. Butt generally it's a place where government ups it's game. Add Harris to the Court and it becomes a ridiculous exercise. She's a radical, for one thing, left of almost everyone in Congress. But worse she's plain stupid. And I doubt she'll be able to sleep her way to the top on SCOTUS.

The fact is Biden can appoint whosoever he likes but in the end the Senate will have to confirm that person and at present Supreme Court Justices still not filibusterable. (This was a Republican rule change but it was payback to the Democrats and Harry Reid for making lower courts unfilibusterable. Sadly the Justices need only win a majority vote, not a supermajority, so it may come down to Harris herself casting the tie-breaking vote to become a permanent fixture and thorn in our side.

I don't see Sotomayor folding to the pressure, frankly, but who knows?

This shows the Democrats haven't learned a blessed thing from their huge loss; they want to force Harris on America despite the fact we rejected her. In their minds they have a right to choose our leaders, we do not.

Granted, it could backfire on them politically but the public will probably forget soon enough. And well be stuck with someone with the intellectual capabilities of Prissy from Gone with the Wind.

The Senate had better be huddling right now to figure out a way to stop this.

1 I'm not holding my breath. It's already been proven that Joe Bite-Me is not a fan of Round-Heels, and somehow I doubt he holds America in so much contempt that he would try to stick her on the Court.

2 I suspect you are right Dana. And of course the McConnell doctrine SHOULD be in effect whereby there would be no vote on any judicial nominee under a  lame-duck, but that certainly won't stop Chuck-you from trying it if Biden plays ball.
