So Antarctica isn’t melting. But what about the other big, though smaller, land-based ice mass at the other end of the planet? Once in a while the news breaks that a massive melt event has occurred over the entire face of Greenland. And it’s all your fault, greenhouse gases, etc. etc. But a recent study has shown that while those big melt events are dramatic when they occur, they are very rare and remarkably insignificant:

They keep making a big deal about sections of Greenland melting, but what is it really telling us?
We keep finding Viking villages and even WWII aircraft frozen under the ice.
What does that mean? It means there was no ice there prior to the last few decades. In other words, we are getting back to normal after a particularly nasty cold period.
BTW the Vikings grew barley in Greenland, something that could not be done now.
