those toy cars are expensive and impractical and were only made because governments subsidized them and used CAFE standards to make them appealing to car companies. (The way that works is car companies have to meet CAFE fuel standards and can't if they want to make vehicles they can sell, so they make things like EV's which count towards their CAFE standards and bring down the MPG of their cars overall.)
So Hoda, the venerable old Japanese giant, ran with EV's and now finds itself losing money.

I think one of the best things that Trump has ever done is throw out the CAFE standards. It will do away with things like force me to drive little cars that will need turbochargers: things that really only need to be on racetracks such as LeMans. Yes, they can produce wonderful acceleration, but there is a lag before they kick in and that can be dangerous. I wish I could put my foot down and get instant response.
And DON'T tell me to buy an EV! I'll spit in your eye!

There was a series on TV where a hit man and hit girl friend, who was a grifter con artist, were fleeing from the cops in a Tesla with a dead body in the trunk when their battery ran out and they were 300 miles from the nearest charging station. Good, fun series.

A
greed Dana; those turbocharged cars don't perform well when you are in the start and stop of heavy traffic - they are a danger.
And EV's plain old suck.
That sounds like a great show Bill. Yea; if you have a dead body in the trunk it's a good idea to make sure you don't run out of "gas" in your ev. At least with a regular car you can walk to a gas station and bring a can of gas back to your vehicle.
