Neil Gorsuch, the man upon whom such high praise was heaped when he ascended to the Supreme Court, has done the Amerirican People dirty, joining the left wing of the Court to strike down a law allowing aliens who committ violent crimes to be deported.
Gorsuch joined the left wing Justices and deserted all of the conservatives on the Court in the ruling, which found that the law was too broad. The case involves a Phillippino legal alien - James Dimaaya - who was arrested for a string of burglaries. Dimaya's lawyers argued that he was in the country since 1992 and that this longevity somehow gives him special privileges to rob houses. The Trump Administration argued that burglary is inherently violent, with an ever present danger of being caught and thus committing assault at a minimum. The Ninth Circuit Court of Banana Peels ruled against the Trump Administration and now the Great Conservative Jurist Neil Gorsuch has thrown America under the bus.
I had feared that; it often happens that when Republicans manage to get someone on the Court they turn hard left. Gorsuch was not hated by the Left, which is always an indication that he's going to turn to the dark side.
I just thought it would take a LITTLE longer, at any rate.
If this does anything, it illustrates the stupidity of continuing to grant the authority to overturn laws by the Supreme Court. They gave themselves that authority in Marbury v. Madison and their actions are and have been entirely extra-Constitutional and arbitrary. We have allowed them to make laws for a long time now, and people on our side have argued that we just have to win elections and appoint good judges. The problem is what is seen right here; someone the Left will allow to reach the court will turn on us and join the left.
Think about the huge number of turncoats appointed by Republicans. Sandra Day O'Conner, Stephen Bryer, John Paul Stevens, the list goes on and on. They talk a good game, get appointed, then turn left. It never goes the opposite direction.
If anything should wake us up to the dangers of the courts it should be this ruling. It's time we do what Andrew Jackson did, what Alexander Hamilton aruges was our remedy for judicial overreach; ignore the bastards. The courts have no enforcement power. It's time we stop letting a majority on the court twist America out of shape to fit the Progressive agenda.
