Gods and Ubermen

Timothy Birdnow

The Mark of the Best and the insanity of transhumanism.

The argument is being made by transhumanists that the ultimate surveillance - under the skin technology that allows the tyrants to read your innermost emotions and thoughts - can be "turned against the surveillance state" if need be is complete nonsense; the state has all the money, all the weapons, all the people it requires. Governments have enormous resources at their disposal. How do you "turn the technolgy against them" when they own it and make it illegal for anyone other than themselves?

These people are batcrap crazy.

What this will do is create a kind of slavery unlike any ever before seen. In the bad old days masters owned their slaves' bodies but the slave still had the privacy of his own mind. Now they want to own us body and mind and soul.

God will not pemit that; He will be forced to intervene. Life is about free will, free choices. As King Baldwin IV says in the otherwise dreadful movie The Kingdom of Heaven "a king may move a man but a man's soul is in his own care". This tyranny would involve the very soul being taken away from Mankind.

That should be fairly easy too; Humanity truly charting our own course will inevitably lead to mistakes and infighting and at this rarified level, the level where we are "hacking" humanity, it will lead to utter disaster. Pandemics, famines, environmental destruction, etc. will all come when Man makes himself a substitute for God. Being a god is hard and not for the incompetent. The skills needed for success in politics or even in science are not the same as the wisdom needed to steer events. Now we have nobody with wisdom - they are brilliant maybe but unwise. Transhumanist types of the most foolish of all, although they are great at moving men where they want. Give them ultimate power and they will make a mess. That mess could well lead to our extinction as a species.

That is precisely what the Apocalypse meant by the number of the Beast being 666. To the Hebrews 7 was the number of perfection and three sevens was reserved for God - absolute perfection. 6 is the number of extreme imperfection and is reserved for Man. The Beast has three of them, signalling his complete imperfection. That's what transhumanism will be - extreme imperfection, the amplification of all of our bad traits. Imagine the worst mistake you ever made. Now imagine if you were nearly omnipotent and made that same mistake...

Actually we have someone who already did that. In 1953 S-F writer Jerome Bixby wrote "It's a Good Life" which would later be made into a Twilight Zone episode starring Billy Mummy - the boy who would later star in Lost in Space. The story centers on a young boy with Godlike powers who utterly terrorizes the small town where he lived. He would get annoyed with people and kill them in the most gruesome of manners then "think them into the corn field" and all of the townsfolk had to hide their thoughts behind confusing mental pictures lest the little deity take something from their thoughts and either grow annoyed or even try to help. He was still a human being in his drives and emotions but a god in his power. This was a great cautionary tale of the old adage "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

Unfortunately Science has given us tools that have greatly extended our power and the unwise are in charge of it - and will become more so as time goes by. Humanity's choices will lead us to ruin with this power.

It's bad to be a god. Much better to let the truly competent do it. And then you don't have so much to worry about.

Imagine if you will Anthony Fauci with this kind of power.

We are headed down a very dangerous path. Sadly I see no way to detour around the missing bridge at the canyon.

1 I read some of the article -- it's too long for me to get into this late at night -- but I'm convinced you meant to title it "The Mark of the Beast." Doesn't seem to be much "Best" of anything involved in it.

Oh, did you notice though, that concerning the WEF, ol' Klaus has resigned due to corruption charges against him and his wifey? He says they aren't true, of course...

2 Dana, I was trying to do a little play on words as they THINK they are "the best" when in fact they represent el diablo.

Yeah; Schwab is a typical leftist, who preaches a pure code of ethics for everyone but himself.

3 Ah, sorry. I didn't catch you there, then. But since you have a tendency to give us typos, I wondered...
