White House Fires Back After Catholic Archbishop Apologizes for Praying With President Trump
Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey "money" Grob repented of visiting President Trump for insufficient reason and the President pushed back in his inimitable way.
Grob and some others had gone to the White House to nag the President about not letting enough illegal aliens in. They then prayed with him.
Grob and the other liberal redcoats are mad Trump used a photo of them praying without asking their permission (as if he needed it in his own home.)
Here is the ridiculously long "apology" letter from Grob. Here is a snippet:
So, following a 90-minute discussion with White House domestic policy staff and advisors, we were eventually ushered into the Oval Office. The president greeted us, took a seat at his desk and presented us with commemorative tokens. We were then directed to stand behind him and pray. After which several photos were taken and we were ushered out. Unbeknownst to the group of bishops a video was also taken. But permission for the public distribution or posting of either the video or photos was not given by the bishops.
It did not take long thereafter for the White House to post a video and photos of the prayer. I soon began receiving messages of serious concern over the possibility that I had inadvertently participated in a political event less than two weeks before a national election. I also heard from some who felt wounded because of the ways they or their family had been harmed by the president’s policies.
I feel a heavy sadness, not only over the pain I caused, but also for the fact that something so sacred to a group of religious leaders, prayer to our Heavenly Father, would be manipulated in that way. We came in good faith to try to work for the betterment of our fellow human beings, to ease their suffering, to build up the common good, and to pray with a president, not to pose for a political photo opportunity to benefit the few. We should never have been put in that position by the White House.
What did they think would happen? EVERYTHING in the White House is filmed.
(BTW heavy sadness often accompanies heavy drinking. One wonders if he is partaking of too much Old Milwaukee.)
And they should be pleased the President posted it because it encourages prayer and gives the Catholic Church good publicity. The only reason to be unhappy is because they hate the President's policies and his Administration. It is Grob and others who are making an issue of this, which means it is they who have politicized it. Praying with Bishops is hardly something promoting a political agenda on the President's side.
The Red State article quotes the Administration courtesy of Fox News:
"There has never been a greater president for Catholic Americans than President Trump," Rogers said, citing the president's efforts to stop the federal government's "weaponization" of its agencies against Christians, pardon pro-life activists, and defend religious freedom.
Denver Archbishop James Golka, who joined Grob in praying over President Trump, has an entirely different approach, saying, "We pray for people. No matter whether we agree or disagree on anything, we always pray for our country and leaders."
That is exactly right; the Trump Administration has protected Catholics all along, while the Biden Administration weaponized the DOJ against them (and so too did the Obama Administration.) But the Bishops are angry because Trump stopped the flow of illegal aliens, something the Church counted on to refill their coffers (since most were Catholics) and they are now in a position to actually evangelize rather than live off the fat of the land. They are also mad he shut down USAID, which helped fund the immigration machine which Catholic Charities suckled off of and then organized the invasion of America.
So Gob now apologizes for meeting with a world leader, something the Church has long done, and for being photographed. Oh, he writes from Latin America while he's at it, to show where his allegiance lies. It isn't with his own archdiocese.
(BTW that's why I am rooting for the Rays over the Brewers, but it looks like a forlorn hope.)
Gob should lay off the beer that made Milwaukee famous.
