Former President Jimmy Carter is on the way out. Going to spend his remaining time at home with family receiving hospice care. That's the way I think I'd like to do it when my time comes. Hey, he's only 18 years older than I am.
On a personal note: he's the guy we loved to hate for years, as the "worst president." But he loved the United States and did his best to support it, and you can't say either for B. Hussein Obama or the current resident of the White House. I'd say that Carter's long since been beaten out for the "worst president" title.
Let's say some prayers for him. He deserves them!

Didn't think much of him as president, but he has been by far the most admirable past president this nation has had in my lifetime. The man has grown greater with every asshole who had held the office since he did.

I agree Dana. Carter had a friendly press which whitewashed much of his life though. He was sanctimonious and arrogant and horribly dishonest. He lied about his credentials (saying he was a nuclear engineer; he was a simply technician on a nuclear sub, and he took a course in college on nuclear physics, that.s all.) He swore like a sailor in private.
He also was the first ex-President to not go away. He was always meddling in foreign policy.
I could go on, but why continue to kick a man when he's down? He certainly did a lot of good things after leaving office, and I even if he didn't he was not a monster and deserves our prayers at this time.
Better than Reagan, Bill? I would even say the two Bushes were better than Carter, although not by a whole lot.

I'm sure that Bill didn't mean that Reagan was an asshole, that he just meant every Democrat asshole since Carter. And we're fortunate that Carter only lasted one term; we had to sweat through two terms of horndog Billy-Jeff and Hussein. Pray greatly that we'll only have one term of Dementia Joe!

I know he wasn't trashing Reagan but saying Carter was the best after leaving office. He's got a point, but then the media tried very hard to rehabilitate Carter's legacy. Everyone forgets just how bad a President he was. And as I pointed out Carter wouldn't go away, unlike past Presidents.

I appreciate your fantastic post. Thank you for sharing this post; it made
me pleased to read it. I frequently read the shorter essays and explain the
authors' motivations, as I did with this one.

It's bittersweet to see former President Jimmy Carter stepping back to spend time with family. Regardless of political views, he's shown resilience and dedication to his country. It's important to reflect on the legacies of our leaders. Speaking of reflections, if you're looking for a fun way to blow off some steam, check out
