"Feminist Geography" Means Never Visiting Florida...

Timothy Birdnow

"Feminist Geography" at Dartmouth.

What do they do, search for vaginal shapes in geographical formations? Instead of P$^&@ hats they have P&%#@^ bays or whatnot? I imagine these women have a field day with the Bay of Bengal or the Persian Gulf.

WEll, Here's what Toni Airaksinen of Campus Reform says about it:
Feminist Geography refers to the "application of feminist theory and methodologies to understanding human geography,” the Dartmouth College guide explains, adding that its goal is to "investigate, reveal, challenge, and change gendered divisions in society.”

"[Gender inequalities] often manifest themselves as spatial divisions with men and women having different patterns of spatial activity, behaviour, and experiences of place."

Viewing geography through a feminist lens is crucial since gender inequalities "often manifest themselves as spatial divisions with men and women having different patterns of spatial activity, behaviour, and experiences of place,” the guide adds."

end excerpt.

????

Anybody feel enlightened yet?

It continues:

"Though the field arose in the late 1970s as a fringe topic in feminist theory, the guide explains that researchers in the field now study issues like "patriarchy, identity, embodiment, spatial subjectivities, [and] emotional geographies.”

The guide also touts feminist geographers as key players in the fight to "challenge the masculinist formation of science as objective, gender-neutral, and value-free” through their deployment of "feminist [knowledge] and [research methods].”"

End excerpt.

Nietzche warned that irrationality was going to overtake the institutions of science and reason as scholars began picking apart the fundamental assumptions that reality is objective and subject to intellectual understanding. What Nietzche failed to grasp at the time (and who can blame him) was that angry people with political axes to grind would purposely subvert scientific inquiry since it did not comport with their irrational views. It is what the insane do; discard reality when it stops working for them. That is what feminism has accomplished.

The Left in general and the feminists in particular have lost all grasp on reality, seeing symbolic figures and abstractions as the real world and seeing reality as the artifact, the construct of the mind. They have become superstitiious, believing in the phantoms of the ID, tilting at the windmills of their own myopia. Like shamans of old, or the hysteria of the Salem Witch trials, the modern feminist sees demons everywhere and does battle with figments of their own imagination. In a saner era they would be held for psychiatric evaluation.

I wonder what those brilliant women at UC Berkeley think when they see an oil tanker penetrate the Golden Gate on it's way to dock? It must give them nightmares!
