A young woman with Down's Syndrome was rejected for a job as a baker by over 22 bakeries, so she opened her own.
From Worthy Things:
She began hitting rejection after rejection.
Many people who interviewed me for jobs said I was really nice but not a good fit for them,†writes Divitto in an interview with Upworthy. "It was really hurtful and I felt rejected a lot.â€
Divitto began to feel self-conscious about her down syndrome and wondered if that was why she was facing rejection in so many interviews. Despite these rejections, she decided not to let them dissuade her from pursuing her passion. With the help of her mother and her sister, the three of them set up a company with her called Collettey’s.
She has since made a success out of the company and is living her dream. Good for her!
Down's Syndrome can cause mental retardation, but it does not necessitate it. There are plenty of Downs people with average, even high I.Q.'s. Downs is a result of a duplication of chromosome 21.
It's great that this woman didn't let it hold lher back!
