Why? Because they are less visible to the radicals, or at least less noticeable as federal vehicles. Oh, and they are a lot cheaper than anything made in Detroit these days (which went all in on electric vehicles, eschewing the bigger, safer, more defensible SUV''s.)
These vehicles are made in the U.S. even though they are made by a foreign country.
This is just one more example of how America is in decline; foreign countries make stuff cheaper than we do these days. There was a time when Europe was buying OUR vehicles, not the other way around.
And the fact that noticeability was a critical feature they wanted shows our society is fragmented and that even the authorities fear the Left these days.
A healthy society would not have to stoop to this.

Now wainaminute! Show me numbers that prove that BMW SUVs are cheaper than Chevys! I'm calling Bullshit on that idea! Also, BMWs are a lot more mechanically complex and will be harder to keep on the road.
This is One Crappy Idea if I've ever heard of one!

According to the article the Beemer's are substantially less expensive Dana, but I thought that too. But then, if BMW is making them in America they probably aren't union made which would save a ton of money.

I haven't priced BMWs but they are a super-premium car and there ain't no way they are cheaper than a Chevy, of any model. It's true the company is non-union, as is, I believe, every foreign marque, but that doesn't affect the price of the cars all that much.
