Facebook went down yesterday and Zuckerberg lost billions

Mark Zuckerberg’s personal wealth has fallen by more than $6 billion in a few hours, knocking him down a notch on the list of the world’s richest people, after a whistleblower came forward and outages took Facebook Inc.’s flagship products offline.

A selloff sent the social-media giant’s stock plummeting 4.9% on Monday, adding to a drop of about 15% since mid-September.

The stock slide on Monday sent Zuckerberg’s worth down to $121.6 billion, dropping him below Bill Gates to No. 5 on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He’s down from almost $140 billion in a matter of weeks, according to the index.

Why?

On Sept. 13, the Wall Street Journal began publishing a series of stories based on a cache of internal documents, revealing that Facebook knew about a wide range of problems with its products — such as Instagram’s harm to teenage girls’ mental health and misinformation about the Jan. 6 Capitol riots — while downplaying the issues in public. The reports have drawn the attention of government officials, and on Monday, the whistleblower revealed herself.

What goes around comes around Zuck.

According to the Ass. Press, Facebook crashed because "the root cause of this outage was a faulty configuration change” and that there is "no evidence that user data was compromised as a result” of the outage." as per a statement by the Zuck's mouthpiece.

Ri-ight!

It just happened to go down right after damning testimony by an ex-employee.

It seems likely to me that either a.a foreign government took it down, one who likes to meddle in the internal affairs of the U.S. - either Russia or China. I am always suspicious of the Chinese and they would have things to hide here, but the Russians have no love lost  for Facebook. Or it could be b. which is Facebook hacked itself to hide something or c.a competitor hacked them (unlikely) or D. the U.S. security  apparatus hacked Facebook to protect Zuck and his cronies and hide something.

Each of these four scenarios is plausible, some more than others. I think d. is the most likely scenario. I suspect the CIA or NSA is running interference for the social media empire built with seed money from their guy Peter Thiel.

That is what made Facebook take off. And if they can make you they can break you. Facebook would have been just another competitor in the social media world were it not for Thiel and the CIA.

At any rate, somebody did this; in my opinion it was not what Zuckerberg claims, a glitch. He has an organization as big as many governments. I don't see it happening.

So what was the purpose? That's the real question. Was it just to sidetrack from what was coming to light about Facebook? Or is there something more?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh, and this happened while a researcher was testifying that Facebook caused great psychological harm to teen girls.
