Facebook Bans Trump for Over Two Years

Trump Suspended From Facebook For 2 Years

Notice they are suspending him past the '22 elections.

Facebook has extended former President Donald Trump's suspension for two years and says it will only reinstate him "if the risk to public safety has receded."

The decision comes after Facebook's Oversight Board told the company it was wrong to impose an indefinite ban on Trump after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Facebook says it is setting new rules "to be applied in exceptional cases such as this." Trump has received the maximum penalty under those rules. His Facebook and Instagram accounts will be suspended until at least Jan. 7, 2023.

At that point, Facebook will consult experts and "evaluate external factors, including instances of violence, restrictions on peaceful assembly and other markers of civil unrest," said Nick Clegg, vice president of global affairs, in a statement.

1 Facebook should be broken up. Of course, they're the darling of the current administration, so no government action will take place. I grant you that a private corporation has the right to set its own rules, but come on, man, this isn't a matter of "public safety." This is politics, impure and simple.

Whatever happened to "I totally disagree with what you are saying. And I'll defend to my death your right to say it."

2 Agreed Dana. And Facebook holds a monopoly on social media, which means their shutting down communications is like the telephone company shutting down your right to use ANY phone back in the old days. The worse AT and T could do to you was shut off your home phone, but you could still communicate with a pay phone or another line. But Facebook is like the phone company with computers to make sure you can't make any sort of call.

And they are indulging in editorial control, which should subject them to the same restrictions news outlets are forced to live under.

T.R., Where are you now?

3 If we had an American administration in power, the IRS would go after Facebook with a vengeance.

4 They would but as they serve the ruling class the IRS won't touch  them.

5 Comment section and forum areas can be a two sided deal for content distributers; they give networks a voice, however that voice can regularly demolish things for everybody. A touch of imaginative reasoning can prompt more compelling conversation but the question is how would you approach things to get a good audience? Its easy to publish but its hard to get a real viewers. Do you have any recommendation? à¸„าสิโนสด
