So, the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) as well as a large part of France has gone dark.
Huge power outage strikes Spain, Portugal and France: Entire cities plunged into blackouts, transport networks shut down and internet is cut off in scenes of mayhem
Wanna bet it's tied to "renewable energy" so beloved by Europe? Anybody?
This is where the enviromentalists want us to go.

It might be. I read quite a long article about the blackout on whereeverthehellitwas.com, and renewable energy wasn't mentioned. Which means nothing at all, of course.

It seems that their renewables dont resonate very well on their transmission lines. A lot more thinking and money is needed to fix the issue.

Dana I'm not surprised; it's the dirty little secret, no doubt. The media tried to ignore the Texas blackouts and their overreliance on "renewables" too, if you remember.
Absolutely right Mike; renewables are only available at certain times and we just don't have adequate ways to store the power. So you have too much power or not enough. You ALWAYS have to have a backup fossil fuel generator for those windless and sunless days.
