A couple of thoughts on the shooting in El Paso. While the media is ignoring Dayton as the shooter was a committed Leftist, much attention is being paid to El Paso. Why?

First, there is a desperate need to splinter Hispanics off from Trump, and this situation is, the media believes, a key to doing this. They want to make the President look uncaring toward Hispanics, or at least somewhat unconcerned.

Meanwhile, if Trump goes forward with gun control - and he has said he would sign a gun control bill if it reaches his desk - he risks losing the First Amendment conservatives, including in Texas.

So, they have him in a box, particularly in Texas, which is a must win for Trump to be re-elected. Or so they think.

Trump would be a fool to sign a gun control law. It would do nothing to solve the problems of mass shootings - just look at Brazil, which has strict gun control laws and also has one of the highest gun violence levels on Earth. But one does not need a gun to do mass murder; in fact, you can do better with an incendiary device.

Trump appears ready to fall for this.
