In regards to the Bubba Wallace hoax, you may remember this story told by ABC News
in 2006. The case, brought by two black women against Southwest
Airlines, was later thrown out of court. I myself didn't here the racist
version of the rhyme until I was over 50 years of age and often used
the "clean" version as a child. As Freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Dunno if this is really germane but, as I told Jack when he e-mailed this to me prior to publication, back in the very early 1970s my wife and I, and VERY young daughter, lived in Niagara Falls, NY, and an African-American family had just moved next door to us. We quickly became friends with them, and learned that one or two of their daughters were of ideal baby-sitting age (which worked out wonderfully). Our daughter also became a frequent playmate, and they taught her the "Eenie-Minie-Mo, catch a tiger by the toe, etc." rhyme. but she was young enough that her language skills weren't quite up to it. She came home and told my wife and me about "Menie-Minie Mo, ketchup on her toe." We used that one for years.
I should see if my daughter, who is now in her 50s, still remembers that. . .
