Diaper Plants and Ice Caps

Plants Are "Leaking” – And It Could Make Global Warming Even Worse

They are just getting ridiculous; "leaking plants" because it's a whopping one degree on average warmer than a hundred years ago, and that throughout the course of the year and mostly diurnal (nighttime) temps to boot.

The planet has been much warmer before, and at least as warm in recent memory. The Medieval Warming Period was warmer. The Roman period about as warm. You didn't have a runaway leakage back then.

FTA:

"Rising temperatures make plants lose water through their cuticle, which undermines photosynthesis and may turn them from carbon sinks into carbon sources. This finding suggests that current climate models could be underestimating the impact of extreme heat on global water and carbon cycles."

Better rush out for some cutical scissors then!

The silliness continues:

"In another study of 200 plant species in Vancouver, we found that photosynthesis starts to break down between 40 and 51 °C. During the 2021 heat dome, temperatures soared to 49.6 °C, pushing plants to their limits.

Our ongoing research suggests that 60 °C may be the highest temperature plants can survive—beyond this point, proteins break down, leading to cell injury and death. Only a few desert and tropical species have ever been observed surviving at such extreme temperatures."

60* C is 140* Fahrenheit. Yeah; that's a REAL problem in British Columbia where this researcher did his work.

It never occurred this dope that a northern forest might suffer from excessive heat in the range that the hottest place on Earth (in Eritrea) rarely reaches. Duh.

This stupid article does admit global average temperature is 16* C, or 60.8* F. (which is probably an overestimation anyway given the propensity to round up by the climate commisars). NASA disputes this number, by the way, saying it is 59*, or 15*C. NASA is one of the overestimaters, I might add.

In another article from Sci Tech Daily, we learn this little gem about why it's rare for ice-covered poles:

"The important implication here is that the Earth’s natural climate regulation mechanism appears to favor a warm and high-CO2 world with no ice caps, not the partially glaciated and low-CO2 world we have today.

"We think this general tendency towards a warm climate has helped prevent devastating ‘snowball Earth’ global glaciations, which have only occurred very rarely and have therefore helped life to continue to prosper.

In other words it's better to be warmer and have less ice and more carbon dioxidie. Otherwise our planet would be something like Mars is today.

1 Not to mention that the melt water from glaciers has been discovered to contain high amounts of Methane, so the melting of glaciers and ice caps is not only causing rising sea levels (everywhere except in San Diego apparently, where sea level has not risen one inch in the 50 years I've been here), but is also causing global warming.

2 Of course Bill sea level rise isn't exactly a crisis; we know that by the fact people are buying up beachfront property at a prodigious rate. Heck; the Saychelles, which was supposed to wind up under water by now, just built a bunch of new airports to accomodate the tourist trade. And of course sea levels have been rising since the end of the last glacial period.

It is true methane is released and methane is indeed a greenhouse gas. On the other hand the early Earth's atmosphere was mostly methane (a reducing atmosphere) but aerobic life broke it down quickly enough.

We know the Earth is greening from satellite photos; so no doubt the extra CO2 and the methane is being taken up by plants. The warmer weather doesn't hurt either.

Global warming is the Gaia version of Millenialism in Christianity; an apocalypse that will come if Mankind doesn't repent (and in their case join the New World Order.)
