Desertification by Low CO2?

shifting-sand desert that is whisked eastwards by strong prevailing
winds.†Interesting theory - better than the CO2 is some Weird control
knob.

Pretty nice explanation, except why was the Gobi desert not covered with glacial ice like most of the rest of the Northern Hemisphere?
